Brokerage Tooling

A set of tools that handle the recurring patterns of a small-brokerage transaction: listings through their lifecycle, what's outstanding on each deal, client communication tied to the right transaction, and a top-down view of where every deal stands.

The need

Transaction information was spread across files and inboxes.

Listing information, documents, and communication were spread across the MLS, separate files, and inboxes. The broker needed a shared view of each deal, its outstanding tasks, and the records associated with it.

What I built

Track each deal and its outstanding work.

I built the tooling around one deal record that holds the listing, checklist, and outstanding work. Each transaction keeps its status as it moves from listed through offer, contract, pending, and closing.

Client communication is linked to the relevant transaction. Staff and the broker can check deal status and outstanding tasks in one place.

Implementation

How I approached the work.

Working alongside the MLS

The tooling works alongside the existing MLS. Listing information and back-office updates are associated with the same deal record.

Deal status and file copies

The broker has an overview of each deal and its related communication. Scheduled backups keep additional copies of the records.
